Sony SAL18250 Famous Sony Travel Lens by Gabriel Lai Photography | Malaysia Professional Photographers

with 6 comments

Finally, my all time dream lens is now sleeping in my camera bag. I have been wanting this SAL 18250 F3.5-6.5 lens since I started using Sony Alpha A200 a year ago. The best part about this lens is, it’s so much sharper than SAL1870 kit lens, in the range of 18-70 of course. Some of my test shots done at F10 were very beautiful. Loves the quality produces from the lens. Oh yes, I’m not going to use this lens, it’s either my brother ahmike or my dad will be using this travel lens. I still prefer my Minolta 28-85 F3.5-4.5 lens. Hehehe… Too bad, it’s not a Full Frame lens, but APS-C lens. Not bad any how.

Oh yes, I just grabbed this lens from George Wong, our previous Sony Product Manager for Alpha. Now he’s running his own photography training/workshop centre. He’s a nice guy and willing to share person. It’s my pleasure meeting him just now at Mamak store.. LOL!! Check him out at www.revven.me where he holds up photography workshops from time to time.

Let’s check out what SAL18250mm F3.5-6.5 lens can do!!! Damm… I was shocked with the result. The below test pics were cropped and it’s still clear and sharp. Of course, enough lightings in photography is most important. Sifu Ted Adnan, master of lightings shares his skills at his blog often too.. Check him out!!

Since bought it over from one of the guy in forum, I didn’t have the chance to camwhore the lens la.. beside my brother already took off the virginity of the lens by camwhoring the lens when it reaches his hands la..

Few weeks back, I went to Pudu Plaza, and had the chance to test out the superb lens – Sony 70-200mm f2.8 G lens. No joke, this lens is super fast and comparing with Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 HSM lens, I still prefer the Sony one. But the price is damm too expensive for me to buy.. arrgghh!!!!

How To Reset MySQL Password?

with 4 comments

I’m using a lot of MySQL lately as I’m running a test on some Network Monitoring Software on my VMWare Machines. It’s normal that I misplaced the root password for my MySQL server and guess what, I can reset it easily without cracking my head.

I google it and found the following solutions. It’s only takes 5 steps to reset the root password!

1. Stop the mysqld daemon process if it’s started. In CentOS, RedHat of Fedora, it’s kinda simple, just issue a command as below:

Good Morning Camwhores

I had breakfast with my colleagues yesterday just downstairs of our office. I was so curious of the effect coming out from Sony Ericsson G700, and thus after we had Roti Canai, I tried the camera of Sony Ericsson G700.

Brasco enjoyed being taken by Sony Ericsson G700. The result is really not bad…

My α Journey: Why I Love Sony, Not Others??

with 8 comments

I am honored to have a Sony Alpha A200 camera that most of the professional photographers like Ted Adnan and smashpop are using.

The reason why I choose Sony DSLR is simple. Its ergonomic design that gives me the feeling that… " ahhh.. this is the camera that I should choose". I’ve tried holding many camera, but still I like Sony because Sony Alpha is really comfortable when I hold it in my hand.

Firefox VS Internet Explorer

with one comment

Which browser are you using? Firefox? or Internet Explorer?

Well, I would say… Firefox AND Internet Explorer!

Sometimes I hate Firefox, it sucks cos it’s really resource hungry, especially when you open many tabs at once, well, it’s still cool as it caches some cache, and that makes browsing fast. Firefox is much more better than IE :)

Well, Internet Explorer sucks too especially its version 7. It always hang when I’m doing my surfing, furthermore it always terminate my blog when I visit my own blog. Damm… It sucks!!

Download Firefox Ver 3 now: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

What’s your choice, friends??

TechRepublic: Take control of any Windows PC on the Internet with CrossLoop

with 2 comments

Source: Video: Take control of any Windows PC on the Internet with CrossLoop

Remotely controlling an end user’s PC across the Internet can be complicated. Remote support tools, like Windows Remote Desktop and VNC, simplify the process, but even these programs can trip up a frustrated, novice user. Add firewalls and routers to the mix, and remote support becomes a real headache. CrossLoop might be the cure.

CrossLoop is a remote control application that distills connecting two PCs via the Internet into a simple one-button interface. The program works through firewalls and routers, making it easy to connect two computers on different networks. CrossLoop uses GPL-licensed TightVNC, which protects all transferred data with 128-bit encryption

In this IT Dojo video, I demonstrate how easily you can establish a remote connection with CrossLoop. To run CrossLoop yourself, you’ll need a machine running Windows 98 or later, with a Pentium 500 MHz or better processor, at least 128 MB of RAM, 2 MB of free hard drive space, and a high-speed Internet connection.

CrossLoop is one of the best remote support tools I’ve used. It’s not perfect, and it sometimes drops connections, but it works as well as any remote control application on the market–only without the hassle. I frequently use CrossLoop to support my technically-challenged friends and family.

For more information on using CrossLoop read Mark Kaelin’s article, “Take control of any Windows PC on the Internet with CrossLoop.”
